Knitting & Crochet weekend in Chester - 20th - 22th April 2018
The weekend will start with drinks, a meal and informal introductions and over the course of the weekend you will be offered the chance to relax at the hotel, wander around town and do some shopping, walk the Roman wall or any other old Roman sites around the town and of course knit and crochet.
Debbie and Jane make great tutors with a long history of teaching and they really enjoy working alongside eachother to create fun and informative workshops. They will each design a small project for you to work through over the course of the weekend and will be on hand to guide you through an array of techniques, typically including beading and colour work. If you would rather bring along and work through your own project surrounded my like minded people please feel free to do so.
Queens Hotel Chester
Walk through the entrance of the magnificent brick and stucco Italianate hotel and you’re following some extraordinary guests! Since opening in 1860 to serve first-class rail passengers, The Queen's Hotel has entertained the likes of Charles Dickens, Cecil Rhodes and Lillie Langtry. A hotel of many firsts - the hotel is the original railway hotel, the first of it's kind, built to service the many rail travellers to the city. With no other blueprints upon which to base the hotels’ design, the architecture was unique, many say the first skyscraper of its time and students from across the world still visit just to marvel at the structure and design of the building.
|Built in the 1850s, in homage to Queen Victoria, the award-winning hotel was the country’s first grand railway hotel and was once considered as the world’s first ever sky scraper!|
|No where offers boutique shopping in such beautiful surroundings as Chester. This historic, heritage city boasts shopping under cover – a medieval mall, with stores under cover on two levels on all city streets; a truly unique experience. In addition to all the top high street names, visitors are offered a wide ranging choice of one-off, independent, high-end fashion boutiques, jewellers, antique shops, art galleries, home stores and coffee shops.|
Although there are parking spaces close to the hotel we recommend using the train to travel to the venue. The hotel is directly opposite the station. All parking in Chester is payable either in the station car park or in one of the park & ride venues around outskirts of the city.
All of the bedrooms in the hotel are of a high quality, but if you would like to upgrade your room then please contact us. To upgrade to the Queens standard room it will cost an additional £25 per room per night. If you wish to upgrade to the Kings standard room then it will cost an additional £50 per room per night. Please contact us and we will see what availability the hotel have for upgrading.
Twin/Double room price shown is total price for two people.
A project yarn pack will be available for you to work through during the weekend. In the past, most workshop participants do choose to work on the project, but it is not compulsory. We are more than happy if you would prefer to bring your own WIP and work on that instead in a friendly environment surrounded by like minded people.
Non Workshop Participants
If you would like to bring along a non workshop participant to share your room, then all you need to do is purchase a sole occupancy room and contact us. Adding a non workshop participant to your room for the weekend will cost an additional £200.
Your partner will be entitled to the sparkling wine reception, breakfast, lunch, dinner and the tea & coffee during the day. The only thing they can't join in is the workshop.
There are plenty of things in Chester to keep a partner busy while you are in the workshop.
