Debbie Abrahams has been passionate about hand-knitting ever since she first picked up a pair of knitting needles at the tender age of six.
Firmly focussed on hand-knitting, she applied directly from school to Nottingham Trent University to do a BA (Hons) degree in knitwear design. Soon after graduating her association with Rowan Yarns began and she has worked for them as a freelance consultant for the past twenty years.
Debbie is the author of five books, with Kaleidoscope being her sixth and most recent title. These days she finds herself working more closely with co-author and designer, Jane Crowfoot, with whom she has launched the brand new handknit and crochet company Inspired Minds. Last year saw the launch of their hugely popular crochet and knitting workshop weekends in the UK, which got Debbie back out on the road and teaching again after the birth of her first son Seth in December 2014.
Debbie’s Mystery Clubs have become a major part of her business and next year her Mystery Blanket Club will be celebrating its tenth year. Her unique Cushion and Blanket Clubs have captured the imagination of knitters all over the world and Debbie now has a total of over 800 knitters signing up each year to her annual projects.
Knitted accessories are Debbie’s favourite projects to design and a selection of her handknit kits can be found on her website: www.debbieabrahams.com. This year she is planning to expand her range of kits with a brand new collection of baby blanket designs, which will use a combination of her own Fine Merino Wool DK and yarns from the Rowan Collection
Debbie lives in Nottingham with her husband Steve, their son Seth and their two cats Olive and Zach.
